Wu Chun officiates Fitness Zone's sports charity carnival
The closing ceremony for Fitness Zone's Sports Charity Carnival was full of life and colour yesterday, even more so as it was attended by its owner, local born Chinese musician, Wu Chun.

Guest of honours at the event were Pg Hj Md Yasin Pg Hj Ahmad from KACA as well as three senior officers from the Narcotics Control Bureau, Pg Hj Md Jaffari Hj Mahadi, Hj Sabtu Hj Sidup and Mr Ng Thing Chong.

Following the arrival of the guest of honours, the event began with a charity auction where sports equipment used throughout the carnival such as footballs personally signed by Wu Chun were sold and proceeds from the auction amounting to $4, 247 were donated to the KACA Association.

The event then saw some entertaining dance performances by a group that refer to themselves as HUM prior to the welcoming speech which was delivered by Wu Chun. He later presented a mock cheque to a representative from KACA.

Shortly after, the prize presentation began where in the Zone Race, 'Walter Team' emerged as the winners walking away with a full year of unlimited passport membership from Fitness Zone worth $3,840 for four individuals, one month for friends worth $600, a night stay at the deluxe room of Holiday Lodge Hotel, a buffet dinner at Rizqun Coffee House for four, a 10 per cent discount voucher from Pelangi De' Mutiara Tourist Square Sdn Bhd, $250 worth of fitness-link vouchers along with a certificate of participation for Zone Race Level 2, a T-shirt and a limited edition Fitness Zone cap.

The first runner-up was the '007 Team' who won themselves, six-months passport membership from Fitness Zone worth $2280 for four persons, weekend hi-tea at Rizqun Coffee Shop for four, $50 voucher from Lili's Lingerie and a night's stay in a standard room at the Holiday Lodge Hotel.

Team Zaibatsu who came third won themselves a three-month passport membership from Fitness Zone worth $1320 for four people, weekend hi-tea at Rizqun Coffee Shop for four and $50 voucher from Lili Lingerie.

In the Futsal category, first place went to Kota JRFC while Rakan Harmoni FC came second and Pascal Team FC was placed third. The futsal teams won $300, $200 and $100 respectively plus a trophy and certificates while Kota JRFC's Fajir Ismail received the best player award.

Shaharuddin and Airwan won the badminton competition by coming in first. Second place went to Edi Farhan and Hj Md Zul Fizal while third place went to Fang Bo Yaun and Andy. The winners were awarded cash prizes amounting to $200, $150 and $100 respectively along with medals and certificates.

The basketball contest saw the Bukit Ladang team emerging as overall champions with the Chevrolet and Wayne teams coming in at second and third place srespectively. The three teams were also awarded cash prizes amounting to $300, $200 and $150 as well as medals and certificates of participation.
